2025/26 Premier League
Matchday 14
Liverpool FC v Sunderland AFC
Anfield
Liverpool, England
Wednesday, 3 December 2025
Kick-off is at 22h15
Liverpool FC will be targeting a second consecutive Premier League win when they host surprise package, Sunderland AFC, at Anfield on 3 December.
Current Form
The Reds secured a 2-0 victory over West Ham United away on 30 November as they returned to winning ways after enduring a two-match winless run in the league.
However, Liverpool have lost two of their last three home matches in the Premier League at Anfield, while the other game ended in a victory over Aston Villa.
Sunderland, on the other hand, secured a 3-2 victory over AFC Bournemouth at home on 29 November as they snapped their three-match unbeaten run in the league.
However, the Black Cats have lost two of their last three away matches in the Premier League and their other game ended in a victory as the visitors at Chelsea FC.
Team News
Liverpool have Jayden Danns, Conor Bradley, Jeremie Frimpong, Giovanni Leoni and Stefan Bajcetic on their injury list, but the Merseyside giants don't have suspension concerns.
Meanwhile, Aji Alese, Habib Diarra, Romaine Mundle, Leo Fuhr Hjelde and Dennis Cirkin are all on Sunderland's injury list, and there are no suspension concerns for the Tyne and Wear side.
Quotes
"I'm aware that it's been a long time coming. I've been trying to get back to my best form and I'm still on the way. But I'm happy to have that goal," Liverpool striker Alexander Isak said after his side's win over West Ham.
"It's a mix [of feelings], of course. The most important [and] best feeling today is that we won the game, that's the best way to get a good spirit within the group, and that's helpful for the individual as well. But, of course I'm a striker, so scoring goals will always help me."
"I think we have to use this win in a good way," said Isak. "But also be humble, because we've had a tough time. "One win doesn't necessarily mean that we're back, we have to stay focused and keep working hard to keep this momentum."
Head-to-Head
Liverpool and Sunderland drew 2-2 in their last meeting in the league, which was in January 2017 at the Stadium of Light.
As a result, the Reds are undefeated in 10 matches in the Premier League against the Black Cats, having registered four draws and six wins.
